Deputy Minister for Adminstration

Henry B. Yonton, Jr., a proud Liberian born on June 21, 1970, in Monrovia, Liberia. He was raised with a strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and commitment to serving my country and contributing meaningfully to society. Growing up in Liberia shaped his passion was leadership, public service, and national development.

He pursued his education with dedication, beginning at Monrovia College and Industrial Training School, where he obtained his WAEC Certificate in 1992. He furthered his studies at the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University in Monrovia, earning an Associate of Arts Degree in Accountancy in 1995, followed by a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accountancy in 1999. With a desire to enhance his knowledge and leadership capacity, He later enrolled at the University of Liberia, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) between 2010 and 2013.

Hon. Yonton professional journey has been marked by progressive growth, leadership, and service across both public and private sectors. he began his career as an Accountant at LanJah Trading Company from 1999 to 2000, where he developed strong financial management and accounting skills. He later served as Vice Principal for Administration at Amos T. Taybior Institute from 2000 to 2002, overseeing administrative operations and staff coordination.

In 2002, He joined the Women and Children Development Organization (WACDO) as a Finance Officer, where he coordinated projects and monitored field activities aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable groups. From 2003 to 2006, Hon. Yonton worked at the National Insurance Corporation of Liberia (NICOL) as Administrative Assistant to the Managing Director, gaining valuable experience in executive coordination and administration.

His dedication and competence led to his appointment as Acting Managing Director of NICOL from 2006 to 2009. In this role, he oversaw the corporation’s operations, reported to the Board of Directors, and served as Chairman of the ECOWAS Brown Card Bureau in Liberia, contributing to regional insurance coordination.

In 2009, Hon. Yonton transitioned into government service as Assistant Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Affairs, where he served until 2014. In this capacity, he managed human resources, finances, and logistics, ensuring effective implementation of the Ministry’s mandate.

Hon. Yonton continued his service at the Ministry of Youth and Sports as Deputy Minister for Sports from 2014 to 2018. During this period, he played a key role in supervising national sports programs, organizing major sporting events such as the National County Sports Meet, and supporting the development of sports federations and associations across Liberia.

Currently, he serve as Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a position he have held since 2024. In this role, he oversee the administrative and managerial functions of the Ministry, including financial management, human resources, procurement, information technology, and monitoring and evaluation. he work closely with the Minister to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the Ministry’s operations.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, he actively involved in community and social activities. he serve as a Vestry Member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and as a Senior Advisor to the Alpha Old Timers Sports Association, contributing to both spiritual growth and sports development in his community.

His career objective has always been to serve in positions that allow him to expand his knowledge, enhance his skills, and contribute to the betterment of humanity. He remain committed to supporting the goals and objectives of institutions and the Government of Liberia through dedicated service, integrity, and leadership.

As he continue his journey, he driven by a passion for excellence, a commitment to national development, and a desire to make a lasting impact in the lives of others.
