Monrovia, Liberia | October 21, 2026
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) has reported progress in the ongoing training activities under the Small-Scale Grants for Market Vendors (SSGMV) program, with training underway in several counties across Liberia as preparations continue to ensure nationwide implementation.

According to the Ministry's latest update, training has commenced in Nimba, Grand Kru, River Gee, Bong, Grand Cape Mount, Margibi, Gbarpolu, River Cess, Montserrado, Maryland, Bomi, and Sinoe counties. The ongoing training is an important component of the program's implementation process, preparing participating market vendors for the next phase of the initiative and supporting the effective delivery of grant assistance.

Meanwhile, the Ministry says preparations are continuing in Grand Gedeh, Grand Bassa, and Lofa counties. Authorities in these counties have committed to commencing their training activities on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
The Ministry is working with relevant county-level stakeholders to facilitate the training process and ensure that activities proceed across the country. The continued rollout reflects efforts to extend the program's reach and provide market vendors with the necessary preparation ahead of grant disbursement.

Following the training, grants are expected to be disbursed through the GSM portal, with beneficiaries receiving payments through mobile money platforms, including MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money. The Ministry of Youth and Sports appreciates the cooperation of market vendors, local authorities, trainers, and other stakeholders who continue to support the implementation of the program.

The Ministry encourages all concerned stakeholders to remain engaged with the process and follow official communication channels for further updates on training activities and grant disbursement arrangements.
