The campus of Liberia Christian International College came alive with excitement as students gathered to engage the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Cornelia W. Kruah, during a dynamic outreach visit aimed at strengthening youth inclusion and empowerment.

Addressing the students, Minister Kruah spoke candidly about the complex challenges confronting young people across Liberia. She emphasized that no single individual or moment can resolve these issues, calling instead for a collective, sustained effort.
She highlighted the Ministry’s strategic shift toward decentralization, bringing programs, opportunities, and services closer to young people in the counties. Minister Kruah underscored that university students and young people are not merely beneficiaries of government initiatives but critical partners in shaping Liberia’s future. Engaging youth at the local level, she noted, is essential to developing practical and sustainable solutions that reflect the realities on the ground.

She further explained that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is undergoing a significant “paradigm shift,” expanding its focus beyond traditional sporting activities to include broader youth empowerment, governance, and development initiatives.
Within the sports sector, she emphasized renewed efforts toward grassroots talent identification and development, aimed at restoring Liberia’s competitiveness on the international stage.

As part of these efforts, the minister announced the introduction of a cadet program, designed to provide short-term employment opportunities and hands-on experience for young people. The initiative seeks to equip participants with practical skills while enabling them to earn income and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Minister Kruah also visited Bahn and Tappita Cities as part of her Nationwide tour in Nimba County, engaging local authorities and residents and reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to decentralization.

Minister Kruah’s message resonated strongly: Liberia’s future will not be shaped from Monrovia alone, but through empowered and engaged young people across the counties—particularly in places like Nimba—who are ready to lead, innovate, and take ownership of the country’s transformation.
